ELECTION OF A COMMUNITY COUNCILLOR
WENVOE COMMUNITY COUNCIL – ST LYTHANS WARD


 

1. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer no later than 4pm on Tuesday 12 December 2023.

2. Nomination papers may be delivered to the Returning Officer at the Civic Offices between 10am and 4pm on any working day from the date of publication of this notice (excluding bank holidays) or electronically as per the arrangements set out in the electronic delivery statement below.


3. Nomination papers may be obtained from the Retuning Officer either at the offices of the council for the Vale of Glamorgan, Civic Offices, Holton Road, Barry, CF63 4RU or electronically via electoralregistration@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk from 4 December 2023 until 12 December 2023.


4. If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday 11 January 2024.


5. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by on 12 midnight Thursday 21 December 2023. Applications can be made online www.gov.uk/registertovote


6. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Civic Offices, Holton Road, Barry, CF63 4RU by 5pm on Friday 22 December 2023.


7. Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Civic Offices, Holton Road, Barry, CF63 4RU by 5pm on Wednesday 3 January 2023.


8. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Civic Offices, Holton Road, Barry, CF63 4RU by 5pm on Thursday 11 January 2024.

9. Nomination papers submitted electronically must be delivered in accordance with arrangements set out in this statement.


10. The email address to submit nominations is nominations@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk. Please use this email address for any queries and/or informal checks. The subject heading should include the name of the candidate and the affiliated party (if applicable).


11. We would strongly advise you to check that your nomination papers have been received by telephoning 01446 709304.


12. It is the responsibility of candidates to ensure that the Returning Officer receives the nomination papers in the correct way by the required deadline.


13. An electronic read receipt from the Returning Officer is not confirmation that the nomination is valid. The Returning Officer will send a notice to inform candidates of their decision as to whether or not their nomination is valid.

UPDATE FROM YOUR VALE OF GLAMORGAN COUNCILLOR RUSSELL GODFREY


Firstly, I would like to thank all of you who voted for me in the recent election. I am humbled and very proud to be able to represent Wenvoe on your behalf in the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

I will ensure that Wenvoe community has a voice in the Vale of Glamorgan Council. I will also be holding monthly surgeries (details to follow).

To date, further to feedback from residents already received, I can confirm that I have written to the Officers responsible with regards to the following issues:

  1. Grass verges in Rectory Close
  2. Road surface at junction of Grange Close and junction at Walston Castle
  3. The cleaning of the drains at junction of Grange Close (Alun Cairns has also written to VOG about this)
  4. The public footpath from Quarrymen’s tribute to track to Whitehall Farm

Audit Notice Regulations

Audit Notices Required By Regulations


. Publication of audited accounts for the year ended 31 March 2021
Regulation 15(5) of the Accounts and Audit (Wales) Regulations 2014 (as amended) requires that by 30 September 2021, Wenvoe Community Council publish its accounting statements for the year ended 31 March 2021 together with any certificate, opinion, or report issued, given or made by the Auditor General.

. The accounting statements in the form of an annual return have been published on the Council’s website. However, the accounts are published before the conclusion of the audit. Due to the impact of COVID-19, the Auditor General has not yet issued an audit opinion.

Wenvoe Community Council will recommence face to face Council meetings from

17th June 2021


 

We request anyone who wishes to attend, emails their request to the clerk  as due to covid restrictions we will be limited on numbers in the hall. As such should several members of the public wish to attend regarding  the same or similar matter then only one group member be able to attend. At present we may not be able to accept all requests due to Covid hall limitations.

 

Covid precautions apply, as such please do not attend if you are feeling unwell especially if you are experiencing symptoms of Covid.  On arrival please pay attention to the signage around the community centre, scan the QR Code or provide your details to a Council representative . There is a one way system in place.  Please adhere to the following guidelines;

 

  • Stay at home should you feel unwell
  • Use Hand Sanitisers around the centre
  • Follow the one way system
  • Keep your distance – 2m social distancing is in place
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Wash your hands

 

You will also be required to wear a mask which will only be allowed to be removed when seated  during the meeting, unless you can provide your exempt card.
