Advent Windows 2022 Schedule

ADVENT WINDOWS 2022

A St. Mary’s Church Initiative for the Whole Community

Come and view the Wenvoe Advent Windows. They begin on 1st December at 29 Vennwood Close, and conclude on Christmas Eve at St. Mary’s Church, Wenvoe. All the windows will be numbered and can be viewed from outside the property. Most are within walking distance, however, you may choose to use transport on 10th and 11th December. If walking, you may need a torch for the uneven roads leading to 11th and 23rd December. After dark you will also need a torch to view the story on 1st December (1b). The map gives details of where each window is situated. Additional maps are available in the Church porch, in the Wenvoe Arms and Springfield Stores. We hope you enjoy the windows that will be lit between 5.00pm and 9.00pm each evening. We are very grateful to all those who have decorated their windows and for inviting us to view them.

Playgroup Thanks the Volunteers

WENVOE PLAYGROUP NEWS AND EVENTS

Registered Charity, right in the heart of the Village.

Here at Playgroup, we would like to thank the volunteers in the Library, for allowing our afternoon children to visit over the past few months. We will be planning to bring our morning session children across for visits on our return in January 2023, so please make sure you all have a lovely restful Christmas.

There are many volunteers in the village who work hard to keep the village an attractive place to live. Here at Playgroup, we would like to thank all of our volunteers and friends who support us to keep us operating successfully.

We will be holding a raffle on Monday 19th December. If anyone can help with raffle donations, they would be gratefully received. Please send us an email to collect wenvoeplaygroup@btinternet.com or pop along to the group any weekday morning:

At the time of writing this, we can’t believe how quickly this Autumn Term is going. We are 5 weeks to Christmas Eve and much to plan. It’s always a special, magical time with our children.

We do hope to see you at our Christmas Fayre on Sunday 4th December. Lots of exciting stalls and the children will be able to visit Father Christmas/Santa/Sion Corn/ Pierre Noel/ St Nicholas or whatever you prefer to call him!

For now, all that remains is for us to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2023.

Police Matters

Police Matters.

A total of 42 events have been recorded in the past month including instances of vehicle theft and damage, assault, and youths’ anti-social behaviour.

A further person has been co-opted by the Council to fill one of the two current vacancies.

Wenvoe Rural Affairs Committee. The Committee’s first meeting has been held and it’s Constitution has been agreed. Minutes of the inaugural meeting will shortly be made available.

A meeting is to be arranged with the Vale of Glamorgan Council to establish what proposals they have for highway changes on Port Rd. It is understood that there is the possibility of installing pedestrian-operated traffic lights at the Walston roundabout but also that the removal of the footbridge at Station Rd has been suggested

Planning Applications for November 2022

Planning Applications for November 2022

Copper Beach Port Rd. Demolition of rear conservatory and replacement with a permanent extension together with an infill of a carport to form a bedroom and gym. No objection.

Tunnelside Yard Alps Quarry Rd. Proposed change of use from agricultural land to storage units. Opposed due to a lack of information on the grade of the land or the demand for storage facilities in the area.

Old Rectory Old Port Rd. Proposed change of use of outside area from communal space to a private garden. No comment as it was felt that this was not a planning issue but rather one for the property owners to resolve with the developers
