SUMMER ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN AT THE HUB

Summer Reading Challenge

The Reading Agency is partnering with Science Museum Group to inspire children across the country to feed their imagination over the summer holiday, with a reading challenge focused on science and innovation.

Through taking part in the Challenge, with free packs, children will be able to join six fictional ‘Gadgeteers.’ The characters use their curiosity and wonder to understand the science behind a whole range of interests from fashion and technology to cooking and music.

In conjunction with the Reading Challenge, Alina, our Schools Liaison volunteer, is organising a reading club during the summer holidays. The aim is to generate discussion and encourage children to enjoy reading on their own. The group is aimed at children aged between 8yrs and 11yrs old. All sessions are free.

There will be two sessions, both from 11.00am – 12 noon.

4th August – a getting to know you session

25th August – a time to discuss the books you read over the holidays.

Children’s entries for the Village Show on 10th September

Ukrainian Books

All volunteers at the Hub would like to welcome our new residents from the Ukraine. Unfortunately, we do not stock books in Ukrainian but if you are looking for Ukrainian reading material, the Odilo app has over 1700 titles for children and adults. You don’t have to be a library member to access the eBooks, simply create an account using your email address. Download the Odilo app for free access to the titles through a web browser: https:// ukraine.unlimitedlearning.io/
