Library – We now have a quotation for replacement of the library building with a modular “demountable” unit. The advantage of this type of building is that on-site installation time is considerably less than for a conventional building, which will minimise disruption to operation of the library, and to the community centre car park. The unit will be 30% larger than the existing building, but the space for the library operation will be 50% larger. The quotation includes provision for a tea/coffee serving area.

FUNDING – We have established that there is sufficient funding available, including S106 contributions from the housing developers, and an additional Vale of Glamorgan grant. In fact, there should be some money left over, and we would like to ask our readers if they have any good ideas for schemes that would benefit the community. At the moment we should have around £75,000, so please don’t suggest a new Wenvoe bypass or anything too extravagant! Rather, think about facilities for children, improvements to the Station Road playing fields, or additions to the playgrounds. Another theme could be information boards, or more seating in public spaces.
