National Dog Walking Day

CARERS WALK

On National Dog Walking day, there were more Valeways walkers than dog walkers strolling around Barry Island. The horrendous rainstorm that was predicted, did not materialise and the strollers enjoyed just a damp drizzle for most of the walk.

The very stylish headgear modelled by many walkers (Sandra, Angela, Janice and Jill) kept any raindrops at bay!

What Is Everyone Looking At?

CARERS WALK

So..  what is everyone looking at….a very unusual sight on the Carers walk……a lonesome swan on the sea. He must have lost his way en route to the lake in the Knap gardens!! No lonely walkers though, as everyone chatted on the scenic and storm free walk around Barry Island in very mild weather

Flying High At Barry Island

CARERS WALK

The Carers strollers were flying high at Barry Island on the post-Christmas ‘let’s walk the mince pies and Christmas puddings off’ walk. High winds and grey skies did not put off these hardy walkers from enjoying the cliffs and beaches…some even had a Christmas pudding ice cream at the end!!

The Wind Blown Hairstyles

CARERS WALK

The Carers stroll at Barry Island was a hair raising experience as the wind swirled around Nell’s point spoiling hairstyles! Still, ruffled hair is a small price to pay for a leisurely stroll, a chat with friends and of course, the Italian ice cream at the end!

Motivated by a Dog

CARERS WALK

We expect to see sun, sea and sand at Barry Island on the Carers walk….so were surprised to see an arthritic spaniel exercising his legs by swimming around Whitmore Bay. Inspired and motivated by the dog, we doggedly strolled around both headlands on a calm, chilly winter’s day. Our new walker was welcomed to the group and tucked into a delicious ice cream at the end!

Intrepid Group Of Walkers

CARERS WALK

Rain greeted the intrepid group of walkers for the Carers stroll as they gathered at Barry Island station, but the grey clouds departed and left amazingly blue skies over the sea and sand. Brave swimmers in wild seas could be seen from our viewpoint above the sea, but no walkers were tempted to dive in! Well done everyone for surviving the blustery conditions! Join us: in sun, wind, rain…and snow in 2023!!!

Intrepid Band of Strollers

CARERS WALK

An  intrepid  Band of strollers  Enjoyed an invigorating  walk around Nell’s point to  Jackson’s bay. Hot chocolate was the  drink of choice for many at the end of the  walk, but one brave walker enjoyed a large scoop of salted caramel ice cream…!!
