July Activities

During July we had two meetings where the rose bed at the Community Centre was cleared and work commenced on clearing the weeds out of the Village Green rose bed. A second visit in the month was made to the pump at St. Lythans. In spite of a good clearing out of brambles, weeds and debris on our previous visit, once again the area was badly overgrown and four bags of rubbish were taken away for disposal. A more permanent solution needs to be found to keep the pump area clean and tidy. We will meet in August, on the 8th and 22nd, 9.30 at the Community Centre .

Meeting Schedule February

The group had a brief meeting in January in which the village Christmas tree was taken down and cut up for disposal. It was a larger tree this year and I’m sure you’ll agree that it was a focal point in the village.

Our next meeting will be on the 6th February as usual at the Community Centre at 9.30 when we may have a walk about to spot areas that could need attention.

Window boxes etc.

At the time of writing, the window boxes at the Community Centre are still in full bloom but a spell of bad weather will soon put paid to that. Then they will be cleaned out and replanted with polyanthus and pansies to provide a bit of colour during the winter.

Next meeting 14th Nov. 9.30 on the Village Green

Grange Park,   (not to be confused with The  Grange, the new development on the Port Road)

has been a play area for many years and has recently been upgraded  and a new swing added.  There is also the new Wild Flower Garden which was prepared and planted by The Wenvoe Wildlife Group and members of the Wenvoe Environment Group which has made a good start and should get better each year
