Popular books included \u2018Why I&#8217;m No Longer Talking to White People about Race\u2019, \u2018Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood\u2019, \u2018White Rage\u2019 and \u2018Such A Fun Age\u2019. It is a gentle slow story; it takes some of the characters two chapters to walk out into the garden!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Jill chose<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>\u2018The Secret River\u2019 by Kate Grenville<\/strong><\/span><\/em>. The story follows the course of the Nigerian-Biafran civil war in the 1960s. It is told through the experiences of ethnically Igbo characters, exquisitely written as lives intertwine.
