{"id":8044,"date":"2020-08-12T23:19:17","date_gmt":"2020-08-12T22:19:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wenvoe.org.uk\/?p=8044"},"modified":"2020-08-12T23:24:02","modified_gmt":"2020-08-12T22:24:02","slug":"strawberry-shortcake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/wenvoe.org.uk\/?p=8044","title":{"rendered":"Strawberry Shortcake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600; font-size: 14pt;\"><em><strong>MR GREEDY\u2019S\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #ff6600;\"><em><b>Strawberry Shortcake <\/b><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">11\/2 cups SR flour <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">1 tsp baking powder <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">1\/4 cup icing sugar <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">150g butter, softened <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">1 large egg, beaten <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">250g cream cheese <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">1\/4 cup sugar <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">1\/2 cup strawberry jam <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">2 cups strawberries <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">1\/2 cup sugar <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">1\/2 cup water <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">Preheat oven to 180C Fan . Place flour, baking powder and icing sugar in a bowl. Mix to combine. Cut in butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Add egg and a little milk if necessary; mix to form a stiff dough. Draw a 20cm circle on a piece of baking paper and place on an oven baking tray. Press dough out to fill circle. Bake for about 20 &#8211; 25 until golden and soft to touch. COOL BEFORE ADDING THE TOPPING. Soften the cream cheese and mix in the icing sugar (1\/4 cup) Spread cream cheese over the shortcake and then cover with strawberry jam. Hull the strawberries and cut in half, if large. Arrange strawberries over the shortcake. Heat water and sugar (1\/2 cup) together in a saucepan over a medium heat, stirring until dissolved. Increase heat and cook sugar mixture until a light golden colour. Cool slightly then pour over strawberries.
