{"id":5044,"date":"2018-09-29T23:50:28","date_gmt":"2018-09-29T22:50:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wenvoe.org.uk\/?p=5044"},"modified":"2018-09-30T08:52:39","modified_gmt":"2018-09-30T07:52:39","slug":"spiced-swede-fritters-vegetarian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/wenvoe.org.uk\/?p=5044","title":{"rendered":"Spiced Swede Fritters [vegetarian]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Spiced Swede Fritters <\/strong>[vegetarian]<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:40px\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px\">1 swede, about 650 &#8211; 700g, peeled and diced into small chunks<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:40px\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px\">75g plain flour<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:40px\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px\">100ml cr&egrave;me fraiche<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:40px\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px\">1 egg beaten<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:40px\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px\">1 large red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:40px\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px\">1 med red onion, finely chopped<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:40px\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px\">1 tsp cayenne pepper<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:40px\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px\">2 tsp garam masala<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:40px\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px\">1\/2 tsp ground turmeric<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:40px\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px\">1 tsp crushed coriander seeds<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:40px\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px\">small handful fresh coriander, chopped<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:40px\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px\">sunflower oil, for frying<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:40px\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px\">mango chutney to serve<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px\">Cook the swede in boiling water until tender. Drain well. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cr&egrave;me fraiche and egg to make a smooth thick batter. Stir in the chilli, onion, spices and coriander, then season generously. Roughly mash the swede and stir into the mixture. Heat a splash of the oil in a large non-stick pan and cook small, flattened spoonfuls of the mixture for about 2 mins on each side until crisp and browned.
