\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tAll winter through I bow my head
\n\tBeneath the driving rain;
\n\tThe north wind powders me with snow
\n\tAnd blows me black again.
\n\tAt midnight ‘neath a blaze of stars
\n\tI flame with glittering rime;
\n\tAnd stand above the stubble, stiff
\n\tAs mail at morning prime.
\n\tBut when that child called Spring
\n\tAnd all his children come
\n\tScattering their buds and dew
\n\tUpon these acres of my home;
\n\tSome rapture in my rags awakes,
\n\tI lift void eyes and scan
\n\tThe skies for crows, those ravening foes
\n\tOf my strange master, Man.
\n\tI watch him striding lank behind
\n\tHis clashing team, and know
\n\tSoon will the wheat swish body high
\n\tWhere once lay sterile snow.
\n\tSoon will I gaze across a sea
\n\tOf sun begotten grain;
\n\tWhich my unflinching watch has sealed
\n\tFor harvest once again.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
