\n\tT<\/span><\/span>here was no set book this month so members had free rein, some more successful than others. The diverse choices ranged from:-<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t* The power of the dog <\/strong><\/em>by Thomas Savage ( a Vintage Classic ) – powerful.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t* A Dictionary of Misunderstanding<\/strong><\/em> by Jackie Copleton. – Excellent<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t* Hons and Rebels<\/strong><\/em> by Jessica Mitford – Fascinating Autobiography<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t* Anna Karenina<\/strong><\/em> by Tolstoy – a Masterpiece<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t* Death of a Busybody<\/strong><\/em> by George Bellaris. (set in a small village!!!) – Typical goings on !!<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tA<\/span><\/span>ll the above came highly recommended by the individual Page Turners.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tT<\/span><\/span>here were however two books which were not favourably reviewed :<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t* The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton – why was this a Booker Prize Winner?<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t* The Fat chance Diet Book- A very light read<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tA <\/span><\/span>stimulating evening was had discussing the merits and otherwise of all these books. So we are off to a good start for 2017.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
