We had bought this appliance which has the
appearance of a cast iron log burner about 10 years ago. It was not cheap at the time but as well as giving heat it also gave the realistic appearance of logs burning. And then it suddenly didn’t.
We spoke to the manufacturer who gave the customary short intake of breath which signalled: “sorry mate, old model, no spares, cannot be repaired, new one cracking on for a grand”. But thankfully, Phil thought he knew differently and took the unit away. Within a matter of a few days he had diagnosed the problem, purchased a suitable alternative for what proved to be a faulty fan for not much more than a tenner and returned the appliance to us. I will speak to Ken to offer a suitable donation to the wonderful work that the Repair Café does.

LETTERS TO THE EDITORS
The Editors are not responsible for opinions expressed, although
every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the information.
The editors reserve the right to protect the anonymity of anyone
who wishes to contribute articles or letters for the magazine
provided they are aware of the identity of any such person.

I notice in the February edition of the What’s On that the Community Council have agreed to the siting of large poppies on the lamp posts along Old Port Road for this year’s Remembrance Day.
