I took a stroll the other day,
\nAnd passing Wenvoe on my way
\nWas pleased to see such progress made,
\nAs it is always good for trade.
\nI mean the village is so changed,
\nNew houses built and well arranged,
\nThe gardens and the walks so clean,
\nWhich proves that some one lives within.

And men forsook the place,<\/span>
\nAnd went to other soil<\/span>
\nTo get their bread by honest toil.<\/span>
\nBut now its progress is so great,
\nNew houses built in every street,
\nThat every man can work who will
\nAccording to his strength and skill.
\nTis quite a treat for those who ride,<\/span>
\nIn brakes and traps to the seaside,
\nTo pass this place, with meadows fair,<\/span>
\nAnd peace and beauty everywhere.<\/span>
\nThe Church is getting much too small
\nTo seat the people when they all<\/span>
\nCome as they ought on Sunday there,
\nTo spend the time in praise and prayer.
\nThe tower is low, it has no pride,
\nBut scaffolding now stands by its side,
\nAnd workmen soon will point its face
