\nParish Church News I felt a response was needed. I
\nattended the public meeting mentioned which was
\nheld approximately 8 years ago in the Community
\nCentre to discuss the extension to the Church and
\nthe sale of the Church Hall.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
\nMy recollection was that the general feeling of
\nthose attending it (and the centre was full) was NOT
\npositive towards these plans at all. There were some
\ncomments from those in favour but there were many
\nmore from those who were against it. Many of us
\nwho have lived in Wenvoe for a long time remember
\nthe Church Hall as the Reading Room and have a
\ngreat fondness for it.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
\nI am very glad that this asset, which was gifted
\nto the parish by the Jenner family, is not going to be
\nsold and possibly demolished. It was stated in the
\narticle that it was unfair that the Pebbles group
\n(Sunday school) had to cross the road to the Church
\nin all weathers. I could understand this argument if
\nthe Church Hall was situated a long distance from
\nthe Church but this is clearly not the case.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
\nAs I understand it there is no longer a Pebbles
\ngroup using the Church Hall on a Sunday so that is
\nno longer a concern anyway. It was also stated that
\nthe general opinion of the meeting was that it was
\nthe Church\u2019s business to do as they wished with the
\nChurch and Church Hall. That is also not correct.
\nThere was one person at the meeting who said
\nsomething similar who was a church goer at the
\ntime. The church is an outstandingly beautiful
\nbuilding with many centuries of history which can be
\nappreciated by all residents, whether they are
\nmembers of the congregation or not. The Church
\nHall is an asset that many churches would be
\ndelighted to use and it is a shame that it has not had
\nthe care it needed over the years. I am delighted that
\nits future is now secure.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\nnew repair shop that runs every month in the
\nCommunity Centre.
\nIf you haven’t visited yet and have something
\nneeding repair, then that is the place to visit. It is
\nvery welcoming, there are lots of people there to
\nhelp, plus refreshments.
\nMy item was repaired and I was happy to give a
\ndonation.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
