May Library News

From the middle of June all the libraries in the Vale will be using a new computer system which is being rolled out across the whole of Wales. It is hoped that the new system will be more reliable but also provide extra functionality; for example, it will be possible to search for a book held at any library in Wales. There's always a downside and we have been informed that the new system will not be loaded with your borrowing history; at the moment, we can tell you if you have previously read a book and send you back to look for another one. If you have found yourself being advised of this in the past you can ask for your history to be downloaded and we will be able to search that borrowing history for you in the library.

Another downside is that you will not be able to access the Library system from home for the first two weeks of June to order or renew books whilst the catalogue is being migrated across to the new system. Please bear with us!

On a happier note we are looking at opening for an extra afternoon in the week but can only do this if we have additional volunteers, If you can help on a Wednesday afternoon, that would be great. We don't want to reveal our new opening times yet, but watch this space.

The opportunity to explore your family history has been taken up by a number of people and is going well. If you would like to take part please call into the library on a Tuesday morning.

We are hoping to have "Digital Drop-ins" where an IT expert can offer hints, tips and help with lap-tops or tablets
